Hosting a SNOWDOWN Event

  1. You, the event coordinator, submit an event/events.
  2. We review and approve the event/events and send you confirmation of the approved event.
  3. We provide you with FREE advertising for your event in the event brochure, website and app.
  4. You host the event per the event details you submitted to us.

FAQs

Who can host an event?
Anybody! It’s not limited to businesses. We’re always on the lookout for new events. Have a rad idea (and a venue to host it)? Submit it!
What are the requirements for submitting a SNOWDOWN event?
Name, date, time, location, and a basic description. You don't need to theme the name or description yourself; our writing team handles that.
What events aren't accepted as SNOWDOWN events?
Almost everything is accepted. The exceptions: events that put participants at an unacceptable level of danger, events that duplicate one already being held, or events that aren't unique to SNOWDOWN. For example, a "dance party" that would happen anyway and is really just advertising that a business is open won't be accepted.
Can I charge a fee for my event?
Yes, though SNOWDOWN's intent is to make as many events as possible free to eligible participants and spectators. 10% of any profit from the event, including requested donations, must go to SNOWDOWN.
Can I host an event that someone else hosted last year?
No, events are essentially owned by the entity that hosted it the year before. If they do not submit that event by October 31st, it can then be taken over by someone else. For example, 11th Street Station “owns” Butt Darts; no one else can host that event or anything similar. Please note: Because Starlight Lounge and Gazpacho are no longer, all of their events can be hosted by another entity, with the exception of the Bartender’s Contest and Outhouse Stuffing, which have already been claimed - FCFS!
I’m new here. When should I host my event?
You can now click View Submissions to see what dates & times are packed with events and which times are not. Historically, Wednesday evening between 5-8 pm has been the busiest. Unless you want to compete with 20+ other events, that date & time should be avoided. It’s also good to avoid the second Friday during the parade, typically 6 - 7 pm.

No, we don't have the bandwidth for that. But you can email Sheri at events@snowdown.org with questions.
